Green Banana Muffins

Green Banana Muffins

We are trying to move into a slightly healthy regime these days, we thought of cutting down on our sugar intake for a bit but our love for sweets is eternal. We had to make a tradeoff somewhere and hence we started experimenting with sugar free options. This dessert was born out of the same process wherein we used dates as sugar substitute and gosh it came so good. It is not entirely sugar free as we ended up using some chocolate chips as topping. The flour is made of oats and chia seeds and hence meets the healthy quotient demands as well. We also used spinach for the green color we desired in the muffins and topped it with some walnuts for a little texture on the top. It is a quick and easy baking recipe and uses your regular pantry items, try it and tell me how you liked it in the comments below.

Do check the YouTube video for better understanding of the recipe and follow me in Instagram and Facebook.

Fall Inspired Bourbon Smash

Fall Inspired Bourbon Smash

Smash is made of mint and syrup and hence some might question the name but as once Shakespeare said what’s in the name so be it ..!!! This is smash cause it’s got the syrup and whiskey and also cause it’s got the smashing taste to it .
The season demanded the use of spices like clove, cardamom , cinnamon and hence I say it’s inspired by the season and is a must make before winter engulfs us completely .
The Royal Rose Syrups sent me these great flavored syrups . They have a bunch of flavors to choose from and this particular one suited the season. Yeah it’s the cardamom and clove syrup which in-spite of being sweet is infused with the aromas of the spices and makes it unique . Top it with some cinnamon powder on the rim , cinnamon stick and star anise and that makes your drink a perfect match for the season.
Enjoy and drink responsibly.

Flavored Rabri

Flavored Rabri

I have never been a baker or a dessert maker, I have always liked to cook entrees and appetizers as I always felt that is my forte. I do bake and make desserts occasionally but that happens only once in a blue moon.
Interestingly, I took part in a cold dessert making competition earlier this year, yes sounds so much unlike me but I did a recipe which I had created specifically for this competition. Surprise Surprise… I won the second price and I was shocked myself…..lol
The recipe was simple and was fueled by my love for Rabri and fresh fruits.
Cook the rabri, make some fresh fruit sauces and mix the two to bring in different colors and flavors to your sweets platter.
It is Diwali and you all need to make some sweets at home, wanted to share this recipe with you all if you want to try it at home.

Black Codder

Black Codder

It doesn’t happen much when a Beer Girl asks you to make a cocktail, you know the stakes are high and you have to make something really special to cope up. So I decided to make my own version of the Codder, I call it the black codder as it is made of black berry, very dumb I must say but yeah sometimes nomenclature doesn’t need brains. This was an instant hit and I would recommend you all weekend Boozers to try this one at your home.

Coffee Rabhri

Coffee Rabhri

My day begins with a cup of coffee and it has been my routine since more than 10 years now. So, I do appreciate good coffee and is always in the lookout for one to try out. When I was working with Atnt , I used to love the cafe downstairs - Breve. I was surprised to find it’s a brand as well and they are local to Saint Louis. They sent me some goodies and I wanted to do something interesting with it. That’s when an idea popped up … to prepare a flavored Rabri using their coffee powder.
Rabri is an Indian dessert made out of milk using a specific technique . Yeah you boil the milk and stick the cream that gets produced while doing so into the sides of the vessel. At the end when the milk thickens , your scrape the sides and add it back into the mix to get a thick milk based dessert. You add saffron and dry fruits in the actual one but I have used coffee to develop a cafe flavor in mine.
If you love coffee and the smell of it you should try out this version of the Rabri .

Do try the recipe, and let me know in the comments below.

Mumbai Mule

Mumbai Mule

Mule is a brand now , it’s a cocktail which according to “The Wall Street Journal” was born out of a need to clear the bar's cellar, packed with unsold inventory, including vodka and ginger beer. The modern world has a lot of versions of the Mule – use Bourbon and it becomes Kentucky mule, use Irish whiskey and you can call it the Irish mule, use Spiced rum and it becomes Jamaican mule. The list is endless, so while I was traversing through it I found that the “Indian Mule” is yet to be made and hence I took the opportunity to make the first Indian Mule.
I did not use lemon or the Copper cup which is traditionally used for Mules. Since we are in the holiday season, I decided to make a sauce out of berries and use that for my Mule.
I had to choose the most Iconic Indian drink for it and what better than the “OLD MONK” rum.
Fun fact - the Old Monk rum was named after the famous “Gumnami Baba”. Yes a lot of folks believe the Gumnami Baba was indeed Subhash Chandra Bose who lived his end years in India using this false identity for reasons better known to him.
So this is my idea of an Indian Mule – I name it the “Mumbai Mule”. Do watch the video in YouTube for better understanding of the steps to create this.
I served it to my Indian and American friends and they all loved it, you should give it a try too.

Rose Berry Sorbet

Rose Berry Sorbet

A little rose syrup, a little vodka , that is all it is ..!! The Royal Rose Syrup sent me these great flavored syrups . Check out the video for the recipe , you can order their mixtures online . Check their page out - https://royalrosesyrups.com/

Mint Chaach (Buttermilk)

The summer is ON and we need to keep our body healthy and hydrated. This Indian drink gives you all that you need to keep your self sane in this heat by re hydrating you . I remember this drink saving me from a heavy Cramp that happened to me during my college days during a Cricket match in College trophy.

Interestingly it has different names across the county -In the Bengal region of the Indian subcontinent, it is called ghol. It is called moru മോര് in Tamil and Malayalam, taak ताक in Marathi, majjiga in Telugu, majjige in Kannada, ale (pronounced a-lay) in Tulu. It is often called laban in the Old Dhaka in Bangladesh. In Indian English, it is often referred to as buttermilk.

Azul Salute

Azul Salute

Azul is blue in Spanish and hence I am naming this drink Azul Salute as it’s got those lovely Mexican flavors in it.

The Royal Rose Syrup sent me these great flavored syrups . They have a bunch of flavors to choose from and one of them is Maine Blueberry. Blue berries are my favorite and I love ‘em on my drinks. So bingo , I decided to make a blue berry based blue cocktail with tequila as my poison and that is this recipe.

White Hawaiian

White Hawaiian

What if White Russian was made in Hawaii ?? Well this drink that I have here symbolizes that :).
Carta Coffee which is based out of Hawaii sent me these splendid COFFEE BEANS of theirs. The smell of the beans oozing out of the packs is so divine , I just can’t get over them.
I wanted to do something interesting with them and that’s when I thought of where they are from - Hawaii.
The tropical area always reminds of you those light cocktails that you can sip while sitting in the sun in a beach. So, I decided to make a coffee cocktail much like White Russian but boasts of tropical flavors like coconut.
Check the video for the recipe , you can also top it up with a wedge of pineapple. I like crystal cane sugar as my sweetener but you can always use syrup or agave nectar as yours .
Enjoy the sun till it is there .. Cheers …

Desi Naarangi Mule

Desi Naarangi Mule

Who doesn't like the Mule , this is a different version of mule using Oranges. The ginger beer (I used the Bundaberg ginger beer) keeps the spirit of the Mule alive while the Orange juice and Zest gives it a new sweet/tangy flavor substituting the lime.

Guava LimonChili

Guava LimonChili

The idea of this drink popped into my mind while trying to think of a new cocktail for the Mother’s day party we hosted at our home. I had just come back from India and a lot of my friends had something good to celebrate hence we wanted to have a party together for celebrating those various reasons.
It is a White rum based cocktail with Guava as its main stay with some lemon for taste and sprite as the soda.
I have used chili powder in the rim of the glass to balance the sweetness of the cocktail with some spice, this is one of the highlights of the drink. The drink was everyone’s favorite in the party and I am sharing the recipe here for you all to try it.

Fruit Cream (Inspired by the famous Strawberry cream of Mapro garden)

Fruit Cream (Inspired by the famous Strawberry cream of Mapro garden)

I lived in Pune, India for around 5 years and that means I was a frequent traveler to the Hill stations of Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar. We used to take our Motor Cycles and hit the road until we reach the MAPRO Gardens in Mahabaleshwar, the Mecca for Strawberry lovers in India. I love and cherish the Strawberry cream they serve there, the taste , the texture and the balance between the fruit and the cream is exemplary. If you ever visit this part of India, do take a peek in this Garden. You get to taste fresh out of the farm Strawberries and a lot more different varieties of fruit based desserts sitting on the picturesque edge of a mountain, trust me it would be worth the trip. You should also try out the local hangouts which includes movie locations for famous Amir Khan movies like Taare Zameen Pe and Raja Hindustani. Also dont miss the Kulfi's they sell on the streets there, they are heavenly.

So coming back to the fruit cream , I came back home from work one day longing to eat the same and hence you have this rendition here. I changed it for most parts but I am glad I was able to keep the essence of the actual Strawberry cream in this one. I made this long back when I was visiting India and we had Robin and Anagha home. I remember Robin eating the first spoon and telling Sandy “Kya ladke se shaadi kiya hai” , well that says it all . It is a very easy thing to prepare , is healthy and should be loved by everyone. This page is dedicated to this lovely couple - Robin and Anagha , I have used an old photo with lesser resolution cause this was the exact one I made that day with them around and wanted to use the same for the page.
